From the Stream Tracker team — here’s a short intro to Jamie Babbit’s 2000 cult satire But I'm a Cheerleader. Wrapped in pastel colors, pom-poms and razor-sharp camp, the film follows Megan, an all‑American cheerleader sent to a “sexual redirection” camp when her parents suspect she’s a lesbian. Equal parts comedy and earnest coming‑out story, it earned festival recognition and a devoted cult following. In the article that follows, we’ll check whether you can stream this queer classic right now on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or Apple TV+, and what form (included with a subscription, to rent or to buy) it’s available in.
Synopsis
a popular cheerleader with a steady boyfriend. Yet she feels uneasy with romantic intimacy with him and is far more affectionate around her female teammates. Fearing that she might be gay, her conservative parents send her to a so-called conversion program where she and other LGBTQ young people are put through therapies and classes intended to make them straight.
