Synopsis
Fleeing an arranged marriage, In-hee slips away and eventually meets Gi-hyun, a young musician who clings to his late father’s saxophone. Their lives intersect repeatedly over the years, and a tentative love grows between them. In-hee builds a career in radio under Young-jin, a Korean figure who openly collaborates with the Japanese authorities. As Gi-hyun’s musical star rises, he uncovers a devastating secret: Young-jin was responsible for his father’s murder. Tensions escalate and, under suspicious circumstances, Gi-hyun is sent to do forced labor in a coal mine in Japan. After Japan’s defeat in World War II, he returns home consumed by a desire for revenge, only to find his world irreparably changed.
