Synopsis
Gu Yizhong, the heir of a prominent Suzhou family, returns from studying architecture at the University of Pennsylvania just as war erupts. A botched attempt to rescue his girlfriend, an underground Party operative, blows the cover of the Suzhou resistance and exposes its entire network. Framed by pro-Japanese collaborators and branded a traitor by his comrades, Gu finds himself isolated and unable to prove his innocence. With no other recourse, he volunteers to penetrate the collaborator ranks and ultimately becomes an undercover agent within the Communist Party’s Suzhou special operations station.
