Synopsis
Fourteen to eighteen participants are stranded on a remote, uninhabited island and must endure a 40-day ordeal (20 days in special editions). Supplied only with a small starter portion of rice, they are forced to forage, hunt and fish to supplement their meagre rations. They must also improvise shelters to shield themselves from harsh weather and pests, and keep a fire alive—either one they light or one they won during the initial comfort challenge.
