Is the movie Auto Focus available on Netflix, Disney+, Prime or Apple TV+?
At Stream Tracker, we keep tabs on where to watch films across the big streaming services. Today’s pick is Auto Focus (2002), Paul Schrader’s unsettling biopic about Bob Crane — the Hogan’s Heroes star whose wholesome TV image hid a compulsive, camera‑obsessed double life. Greg Kinnear is quietly unnerving as Crane, with Willem Dafoe as the seedy friend who helps turn private encounters into tapes and photographs; the film probes voyeurism, celebrity and the self‑destructive spiral that culminated in Crane’s death. Auto Focus didn’t dominate awards season, but it earned strong critical notice for its performances and its cold, forensic look at scandal. Below, the Stream Tracker team checks whether you can stream it on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or AppleTV+ and what form that availability takes (included, rent, or buy).
Synopsis
In the 1960s, beloved television star Bob Crane—famous for Hogan's Heroes—maintains a carefully crafted image as a devoted family man while secretly wrestling with a compulsive sexual appetite. Obsessed with documenting his conquests, he systematically films and photographs liaisons, often with the help of his unscrupulous associate, John Henry Carpenter. This biographical drama follows the slow unravelling of Crane’s private life, the strain it places on those closest to him, and how those hidden behaviors ultimately contribute to his downfall and tragic death.
