Synopsis

Assigned to the USS Corsair, an American submarine patrolling the North Atlantic for German raiders menacing Allied shipping, Lieutenant Ward Stewart arrives as the boat’s new executive officer after a tour commanding a PT boat. Before reporting for duty, he asks his captain, Lieutenant Commander Dewey Connors, at the New London base for a short weekend leave to straighten out his personal affairs. On the train to Washington, Stewart unexpectedly meets Jean Hewlett, a New London schoolteacher traveling with her pupils; though she initially resists his attention, his charm gradually wins her over and a romance blossoms.
