Synopsis
A poor orphan is stunned when the lawyer Jaggers reveals that an unknown patron is financing his rise to gentility. Returned to the shadowy world of his childhood guardian, the eccentric Miss Havisham, and reunited with his first love, the striking but distant Estella, he discovers that Havisham—broken by a wedding-day betrayal—has shaped him into a hardened, unfeeling seducer as part of her bitter scheme.
