Synopsis

In the aftermath of the cataclysmic Second Impact, the fortified city of Tokyo-3 is besieged by towering creatures called Angels, whose mission appears to be the eradication of humanity. A young boy named Shinji is conscripted to confront them by piloting one of the enigmatic Evangelion biomechanical units. The film retells the first six episodes of GAINAX’s influential 1996 anime, and was later issued on DVD as Evangelion: 1.01 and in an expanded cut titled Evangelion: 1.11.
