Is the movie Hud available on Netflix, Disney+, Prime or Apple TV+?
At Stream Tracker, we take a look at Hud (1963), Martin Ritt’s lean, dust‑blown study of a ruthless, swaggering anti‑hero played by Paul Newman. Set on a sunbaked ranch where cattle, pride and moral codes collide, the film stages a bitter clash between Hud’s reckless amorality and his stern, principled father — a portrait of alienated youth that still feels raw. As Hud himself puts it, “I always say the law was meant to be interpreted in a lenient manner.” Hud was critically acclaimed at the time of its release, earning two Academy Awards: Patricia Neal won Best Actress and Melvyn Douglas won Best Supporting Actor. In the article that follows, we check whether this classic is available to stream on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or AppleTV+ (regional availability may vary) and explain the best ways to watch or rent it online.
Synopsis
Hud Bannon is a remorseless young man who leaves destruction and damaged relationships wherever he goes. He personifies a disaffected generation, chasing pleasures and risks without caring about the fallout. This callousness puts him in constant, bitter conflict with his stern, morally upright father, Homer. Hud’s nephew Lon first admires his uncle’s slick, rule-bending behavior but soon becomes disillusioned as Hud’s selfishness and amorality prove unbearable. In a world split between predators and victims, Hud survives by exploiting others and bending the law to suit his needs.
