Synopsis

Amid the narrow alleys and ancient stones of Constantine, Houria and Noureddine, two young students from opposite worlds, see their budding romance tested. Fatherless Houria, raised in a humble, conservative household where her brothers tightly guard her future and plan to wed her to a cousin, contrasts with Noureddine, the free-spirited son of a prosperous, Western-leaning family. When Houria flees to escape her fate and later returns, Noureddine boldly offers marriage; her relatives, surprisingly, give their blessing — but Houria, for the first time deciding for herself, refuses.
