Synopsis

A shy suitor, Allen, enlists his more articulate friend Roger to pen love letters on his behalf, but the ruse quickly unravels. Allen marries the woman, then one night confesses he never wrote the letters — and is murdered, stabbed in the back. Roger, the true author, has fallen for the woman he wooed and is bent on becoming her second husband, even if she killed Allen. Now calling herself Singleton, she cannot recall the murder or any of the first twenty-two years of her life as Victoria Remington, and at her second wedding is shaken to realize she has just said "I take you, Roger" when she expected to say "I take you, Allen."
