On the Run (1968) is a lean, combustible drama about Bruno, a newly escaped prisoner who wants to throw off his chains and reignite a proletarian revolution — freeing comrades from cells, rallying the masses and confronting a world that’s moved on. The story moves between jailbreak tension, clandestine meetings and the quiet doom of a cause out of step with ordinary life, with themes of betrayal, exile and the cost of staying on the run.
