Is the movie Persepolis available on Netflix, Disney+, Prime or Apple TV+?
here’s where to find Persepolis (2007), the black-and-white animated adaptation of Marjane Satrapi’s graphic memoir, on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and AppleTV+. The film traces young Marji’s eyes through 1970s Tehran — from the exhilaration of the Shah’s fall to the suffocating years of the Islamic Republic — mixing sharp political observation, exile, and the odd, defiant bit of childhood humor under the veil. Directed by Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud, Persepolis won the Jury Prize at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature. In the lines below, we’ll check current streaming availability across platforms, note regional differences, and show how to watch without hunting through Tehran’s alleys.
Synopsis
Growing up in 1970s Iran, young Marjane “Marji” Satrapi experiences the country’s turmoil through a child’s perspective as her family’s long-held dream—the overthrow of the despised Shah—seems to come true with the 1979 Revolution. But as Marji enters adolescence, she discovers that the new rulers, Islamic hardliners, have replaced one form of oppression with another, turning the hoped-for liberation into a different kind of tyranny.
