Is the movie Radio available on Netflix, Disney+, Prime or Apple TV+?
Radio (2003) is a quiet, heart-led drama set on the 1976 gridiron of Anderson, South Carolina. Centered on the unlikely friendship between high-school coach Harold Jones and a mentally disabled young man nicknamed Radio, the film plays out in locker rooms, on the sidelines and in the bleachers as community tensions and the quest for a championship collide. Expect themes of compassion, team spirit and small-town reckonings rather than big-game fireworks. Radio is best known for its performances—Cuba Gooding Jr. and Ed Harris bring warmth and restraint to their roles—and for its portrait of belonging more than it is for awards: the film earned praise from audiences and critics but did not rack up major industry trophies. This article checks the current streaming playbook to tell you whether Radio is available on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or AppleTV+, and how to catch it without wasting time on the wrong platform.
Synopsis
Set in Anderson, South Carolina in 1976, high-school football coach Harold Jones notices a young African-American man with an intellectual disability who spends his days near the practice field and is known to everyone as Radio. Moved by compassion, Jones befriends him, brings him into the team's orbit as a trusted helper, and helps him enroll at T.L. Hanna High. At first Radio’s presence becomes a source of warmth and unity, but the coach’s protective attention soon provokes resentment among some parents and fans. As criticism mounts that Jones is prioritizing Radio over the program’s championship ambitions, tensions build within the town and threaten the fragile bonds the team and community have formed.
