Tears of the Sun

Synopsis

Lieutenant A.K. Waters, a seasoned Navy SEAL, commands a compact team of elite operators sent into a nation thrown into turmoil after Nigeria's democratic government collapses and a brutal military junta takes control. What begins as a routine extraction of a Doctors Without Borders physician quickly turns into a confrontation with a convoy of vulnerable refugees trapped amid the violence. Pressured to follow orders and complete the mission, Waters and his squad face a harrowing moral dilemma: stick to protocol and withdraw, or defy command to shield the innocents. The story tracks Waters's struggle to reconcile loyalty to his unit and the chain of command with an emerging responsibility to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
