Synopsis
After a satellite returns to Earth, the tiny town of Piedmont, New Mexico, is discovered almost entirely lifeless. The director of the U.S. Air Force’s Project Scoop orders an immediate emergency response. A cadre of top scientists, led by Dr. Jeremy Stone, is rushed into a fortified research facility to contain the organism and to unravel why only two residents—an elderly alcoholic and a six‑month‑old infant—remain alive. As they carefully analyze the alien entity, the team fails to notice that it has already transformed and become exponentially more dangerous within the lab, which is fitted with a nuclear self‑destruct mechanism meant to prevent any deadly biological material from escaping.
