Synopsis

Betrayed and left to die in the desert, Cable Hogue survives when he discovers a hidden spring. He turns the water source into a convenient oasis on a busy stagecoach route, builds a cabin, and makes a living serving travelers. Hildy, a sex worker from the nearest settlement, comes to live with him, and for a while Hogue enjoys comfort and modest prosperity. His newfound fortune unravels with the arrival of the automobile, which makes the stagecoach obsolete.
