Is the movie The Pallbearer available on Netflix, Disney+, Prime or Apple TV+?
Here at Stream Tracker, we’re checking where to stream The Pallbearer (1996) — a darkly comic, slightly morbid romantic comedy about a mistaken eulogy that drags an awkward young man back into a past full of secrets and longing. Starring David Schwimmer alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Toni Collette and directed by Matt Reeves in his feature debut, the film trades romantic sparks for funeral-parlor awkwardness, mistaken identities and a taste for gallows humor. If you’re wondering whether to hunt it down on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or Apple TV+, this guide will walk you through its current streaming availability and what to expect before you hit play — note that The Pallbearer didn’t collect any major awards on release, but it remains a curious period piece for fans of offbeat rom-coms.
Synopsis
Tom Thompson, an aspiring architect, is stunned when a stranger, Ruth Abernathy, tells him that his supposed best friend “Bill” has committed suicide—except Tom has never met Bill, and his equally incredulous friends have no idea who he’s talking about. Drawn by curiosity and a bizarre sense of obligation, Tom agrees to give the eulogy at a funeral for a man he doesn’t know, a choice that launches him into a collision with Ruth—later revealed to be Bill’s sexually uninhibited mother—and into an awkward reunion with Julie DeMarco, the girl he’s harbored a crush on since their teens. As secrets and misplaced loyalties surface, Tom is forced to confront how much of his life is shaped by other people’s stories and desires.
