Synopsis
Fourteen-year-old Joe is the sole child of Jeanette, a homemaker, and Jerry, the town’s golf pro, living in a small Montana community in the 1960s. When a fierce, uncontrolled wildfire advances toward the Canadian border and Jerry loses his job—and with it his sense of purpose—he decides to join the firefighting effort, leaving Jeanette and Joe to cope on their own.
