Synopsis
Detective Ukyo Sugishita pursues justice according to his own principles, leading a Special Task Unit and partnering with a series of officers who each bring a different temperament to investigations. In seasons 1–7 his partner is Kaoru Kameyama, a good-hearted, quick-tempered, straightforward but occasionally scatterbrained detective. Beginning in season 8 Takeru Kanbe takes over that role — tall, composed, self-assured and somewhat vain, a marked contrast to his predecessor. From seasons 11 to 13 Ukyo works with Toru Kai, a young detective who, despite being the son of the Deputy Director-General of the National Police Agency, earned his place through his own effort. Starting with season 14 Wataru Kaburagi becomes Ukyo’s current partner: an elite bureaucrat temporarily assigned to the Metropolitan Police, and the first partner without a traditional police career, who must adapt to the demands of fieldwork while tackling complex cases alongside Ukyo.
