Synopsis

Aoko, who has spent her life in Hasami, is a porcelain painter devoted to the slow, meditative rhythm of her craft and to the town’s long heritage of pottery. Her routine is disrupted by the arrival of a solitary Finnish ceramicist who rejects painted ornamentation as unnecessary; offended at first, Aoko gradually comes to admire the restrained beauty of his work and finds herself drawn, unexpectedly, to both his art and the quiet man behind it.
