Is the TV show Chewin' the Fat available on Netflix, Disney+, Prime or Apple TV+?
At Stream Tracker, we like to help you find where to watch cult TV — and Chewin' the Fat is exactly that kind of show. This Scottish sketch comedy, led by Ford Kiernan, Greg Hemphill and Karen Dunbar, served up Glaswegian banter, memorable characters and annual Hogmanay specials that helped cement its place in late‑90s/early‑00s comedy. Best known for spawning the hit spin‑off Still Game (hello Jack and Victor), the series blends radio‑born sketches with sharp local humour filmed around Glasgow. In this article we’ll check whether Chewin' the Fat is currently streaming on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or Apple TV+, and point you to the platforms where you can catch its best bits.
Synopsis
A Scottish sketch comedy series led by Ford Kiernan, Greg Hemphill and Karen Dunbar, with regular contributions from Paul Riley and Mark Cox, began life on BBC Radio Scotland before being adapted for television. The TV incarnation ran for four seasons on BBC One Scotland, with later series and selected highlights shown across the rest of the UK. Although the regular run finished in February 2002, the show continued to return for Hogmanay specials—six in all—broadcast between 2000 and 2005 and later issued on DVD via the Scottish Sun. The programme, filmed mainly in Glasgow with occasional shoots in West Dunbartonshire, also spawned the successful spin-off sitcom Still Game, centred on the older characters Jack and Victor. Its title reflects the English idiom "to chew the fat," meaning to engage in an easygoing, extended chat about shared interests.
