Synopsis

During the Second World War Fort Breendonk was transformed into an SS detention camp where inmates faced brutal violence, chronic starvation and forced labor — about half would not survive the conflict. In the documentary series "De hel van Breendonk," Professor Koen Aerts leads an investigation through survivor testimonies, preserved locations and archival material to piece together the prisoners' ordeal.
