A breakout hit in Japan, Doctor‑X combines tense operating-room drama, courtroom-style confrontations and a heroine who refuses to play hospital politics. The series earned strong ratings and critical recognition, including awards that highlighted Ryōko Yonekura’s performance as Michiko. In this article, the Stream Tracker team checks whether Doctor‑X is streaming on Netflix and the other main platforms (Disney+, Prime Video and Apple TV+), how regional availability can change, and which seasons — if any — are currently accessible. Read on to see where you can watch Michiko demand “I never fail” in your country.
Synopsis
Daimon Michiko is a 37-year-old freelance surgeon who drifts between hospitals through a dubious doctor-placement agency, filling gaps left by doctors driven away from harsh working conditions. With flamboyant clothes and an irreverent demeanour, she hardly looks like a conventional physician, and her blunt refusal to go along with a planned operation by the long-inactive hospital director immediately puts her at odds with local staff. When she openly exposes the director’s outdated surgical technique, the ward falls silent — and Michiko’s uncompromising standards, strict limits on duties that don’t require a medical license, and total indifference to internal power plays only deepen the mystery around her. Rumours swirl about the source of her elite surgical skill and the exorbitant fees she commands, while her private life remains a closed book to colleagues and patients alike. Tanaka appears as a rookie surgeon learning the ropes, Uchida plays the anesthetist, Kishibe heads the placement service that sends Michiko from one posting to another, and Ito is the institution’s surgical department chief caught between tradition and the disruptive force Michiko represents.
