Is the TV show Hibana: Spark available on Netflix, Disney+, Prime or Apple TV+?
At Stream Tracker, we like to follow the sparks that fly when great storytelling meets a tight stage. Hibana: Spark (2016) dives into the gritty, electric world of Japanese comedy — manzai routines, late-night gigs, backstage rehearsals and the fragile bond between a struggling rookie and his mercurial mentor. Based on Naoki Matayoshi’s novel (which won the 153rd Akutagawa Prize in 2015), the series follows Tokunaga’s apprenticeship under the oddly generous genius Kamiya after a chance encounter at an Atami fireworks event — a story about punchlines, pride and the cost of chasing a single brilliant spark. Originally released on Netflix, Hibana’s intimate portrait of comedy life raises the question many viewers have: where can you stream it today? In this article, the Stream Tracker team checks whether Hibana: Spark is still available on Netflix and whether it can also be found on Disney+, Prime Video or Apple TV+.
Synopsis
While working at a fireworks event in Atami, down-on-his-luck comedian Tokunaga unexpectedly crosses paths with Kamiya, an older, celebrated comic. Deeply moved by Kamiya’s talent and kindness, Tokunaga pleads to become his apprentice. Kamiya — a brilliant, warm-hearted performer — agrees, but only if Tokunaga will write his biography.
