The Mightiest Disciple (2006) and where you might find it — Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or Apple TV+. This underdog martial-arts anime follows meek high-schooler Kenichi as he stumbles into the Ryozanpaku dojo, finds motivation in Miu, and is schooled by a handful of eccentric masters who turn him into a proper disciple through brutal training, grappling matches and knockout showdowns. In this article, the team checks current streaming availability across the big platforms and explains what to expect from the series’ mix of dojo life, classic training arcs and comic moments. The show didn’t collect major industry awards, but it remains a fan favorite for anyone who likes coming-of-age fight stories and absurdly intense sparring scenes.
Synopsis
Kenichi is a shy, bullied teenager with no one to stand up for him and little hope of making it through school unless something changes. His chance arrives in Miu: beautiful, compassionate, and a resident of a dojo where six master martial artists live and teach. Whether led by destiny or infatuation, Kenichi follows her to the dojo and is thrust into relentless, demanding training that pushes him far beyond his limits. As he learns to defend himself and build confidence, surviving another day at school becomes a real possibility—and so does winning Miu’s affection. Once written off as weak, he slowly becomes an underdog worth rooting for.
