Nature's Weirdest Events

Synopsis

Naturalist Chris Packham travels to the locations of some of the planet’s strangest natural events to uncover the real stories behind the headlines. Across two feature episodes he explores nature’s capacity to enchant, alarm and overwhelm — from a car in the Netherlands swathed in living caterpillars and toads that appeared to explode in Germany, to fish raining from the sky and a storm that dyed Sydney’s sky crimson. Examining original footage and speaking with eyewitnesses and scientists, Packham separates myth from fact, reconstructs what actually happened and explains the natural mechanisms behind these astonishing and often baffling phenomena.
