Is the TV show SCTV Network 90 available on Netflix, Disney+, Prime or Apple TV+?
At Stream Tracker, we’re here to help you find whether the cult sketch show SCTV Network 90 (1981) is available to stream on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or Apple TV+. Born when the Second City troupe took their warped TV schedule stateside for a 90‑minute NBC slot, SCTV Network 90 kept the show’s trademark faux‑network structure: parody commercials, fake newscasts and movie spoofs populated by unforgettable characters like Guy Caballero, Count Floyd, Ed Grimley and the Great White North’s Bob and Doug McKenzie. With writers and straight‑man turns from Dick Blasucci and early contributions from Tony Rosato and Robin Duke, the series lives on through the sheer comic inventiveness of its cast. SCTV and its performers also received Primetime Emmy recognition during their run, underscoring the show’s lasting influence. Read on to see the current streaming status across Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and Apple TV+.
Synopsis
Following a successful Canadian run as Second City Television (SCTV) on CBC and as Second City TV on Global, the troupe moved to the United States when NBC offered a 90-minute slot under the banner SCTV Network 90. They brought with them a gallery of eccentric recurring characters, distinctive sketch formats, and the offbeat comic sensibility that had defined their earlier work. Dick Blasucci, who had begun writing for the group during their second Canadian season, became a steady contributor and frequently served as the straight man to their more outlandish personas. Tony Rosato and Robin Duke also penned material at the show’s start before departing to write and perform for Saturday Night Live. Beyond clever scripts, the program’s enduring appeal lay in the performers’ sharp timing, bold personalities, and singular wit.
