Synopsis
By 2024, civilization has fallen and Japan's cities lie in ruins, stalked by nightmarish creatures while the few survivors scavenge and barter to get by. In Nakano, Kiruko keeps her head down doing odd jobs until a dying woman thrusts a strange request into her hands: take a little boy named Maru to a place called "Heaven." Maru is convinced that another boy who looks exactly like him waits there, and Kiruko reluctantly becomes his escort through a shattered landscape of dangers, strange alliances and fragile hopes as they search for a promise that might be salvation—or a new kind of peril.
