Is the TV show The Andy Griffith Show available on Netflix, Disney+, Prime or Apple TV+?

At Stream Tracker, we know Mayberry feels like a refuge from the modern rush — a small-town courthouse square where Sheriff Andy Griffith keeps order, Barney Fife’s bluster provides the laughs, Aunt Bee holds the household together, and young Opie keeps everyone grounded. First broadcast from 1960 to 1968, The Andy Griffith Show married gentle humor with a nostalgia for a simpler time and never dropped below the top ten in the Nielsen ratings; TV Guide later ranked it among the top ten American TV shows of all time. Although Andy Griffith and the series itself didn’t collect major awards during its original run, co-stars Don Knotts and Frances Bavier earned a combined six Emmy Awards, and the show spun off hits like Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. and Mayberry R.F.D., plus a reunion movie, Return to Mayberry. For viewers who want to revisit the courthouse square, the complete eight-season run is now available on streaming services such as Netflix. Availability can vary by country, so check whether The Andy Griffith Show is currently on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or Apple TV+ in your region — and consult Stream Tracker for the latest updates.

The Andy Griffith Show

Synopsis

Set in the fictional small town of Mayberry, North Carolina, the series centers on a widowed sheriff whose calm, common-sense approach to life is regularly tested by an eager but hapless deputy, a devoted spinster aunt who keeps his household in order, and his curious young son. A rotating cast of local miscreants, bumbling friends and flighty romantic interests add to the gentle obstacles he faces. Although filmed in the 1960s, the show’s creator and star said it deliberately evoked an earlier, simpler era — a nostalgic glimpse of a time gone by. A ratings powerhouse throughout its run from October 3, 1960 to April 1, 1968, the program never fell below seventh place in the Nielsen charts and finished its final season at number one. TV Guide later placed it among the top ten U.S. television series. While the lead and the series itself did not collect major awards during the eight seasons, supporting players (notably Don Knotts and Frances Bavier) earned multiple Emmy wins between them. The series began as a semi-spin-off from an episode of The Danny Thomas Show, and it in turn produced the hit spinoff Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., a follow-up series, Mayberry R.F.D., and a reunion telemovie, Return to Mayberry. Its lasting appeal has generated abundant merchandise; the show has enjoyed frequent reruns on cable channels, full-season DVD releases, and availability across streaming platforms such as Netflix.
