Synopsis

On her wedding day in Tianqiang Temple Village, Ning Xiuxiu — the daughter of the village’s wealthiest man — is kidnapped by bandits. When her father refuses the ransom and instead arranges her sister’s marriage to her childhood sweetheart, Xiuxiu severs ties with her family and defies expectations. She marries a humble farmer, Feng Dajiao, and learns firsthand the value of land, labor, and communal life. Fueled by revolutionary ideals, she mobilizes the village’s women to challenge feudal customs and becomes a driving force in defending the community against bandit raids and the encroaching Japanese invasion.
