What's coming to HBO Max in July : new releases

Modern home cinema with red seats and blue ceiling lighting

July 2026 brings a packed lineup to HBO Max, and we've gone through the full schedule so you don't have to. Between returning originals, fresh licensed films, and a wave of content from Food Network, HGTV, and CNN, there's genuinely a lot happening this month. Here's what to keep on your radar.

HBO Max originals dropping in July 2026

Two Max originals stand out this month, and they couldn't be more different from each other. First, The Man Will Burn, arriving on July 9th, is a documentary series tracing the evolution of Burning Man since its founding in 1986. What started as an anarchic counterculture gathering in San Francisco has grown into a global event drawing 80,000 participants to the Nevada desert every year. The series follows the organization through several years of serious internal turmoil, and it asks a real question : can a movement built on radical self-expression survive its own success ?

Then there's Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, premiering on July 23rd. Comic book store owner Stuart Bloom, a recurring character from The Big Bang Theory, accidentally triggers a multiverse collapse after breaking a device built by Sheldon and Leonard. He's joined by his girlfriend Denise, geologist Bert, and the insufferable Barry Kripke. The show visits alternate-universe versions of familiar faces. As the title suggests, it doesn't end well for Stuart. For fans tracking HBO Max's upcoming originals across the full 2026 slate, this spinoff has been one of the most anticipated additions since it was announced.

Also worth noting : President Curtis, Season 1 from Adult Swim drops on July 27th, alongside Season 4 of The Big Bang Theory Podcast.

Movies arriving on HBO Max in July

The film catalog gets a serious injection on July 1st. Several franchise titles land at once, making it a strong month for action and horror fans. The full Mummy franchise arrives in one batch, including the 1999 Brendan Fraser classic, the 1959 original, The Mummy Returns, and The Mummy : Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. That's four films in one franchise, available from day one of the month.

The Equalizer trilogy (all three Denzel Washington entries) also lands on July 1st, which is a solid binge for anyone who hasn't caught The Equalizer 3 yet. Add Deadpool 2 (including the Super Duper Cut), Hereditary, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Usual Suspects, and Us, and July 1st alone justifies checking the platform.

Here's a quick breakdown of key film arrivals by date :

Marc by Sofia (A24) arrives July 16th, and The Long Walk (Lionsgate) follows on July 10th. A24 drops two titles this month, which tracks with their increasingly active streaming presence in 2026.

Series, reality TV, and CNN content in July

Beyond originals, HBO Max loads up on network content from CNN, Food Network, HGTV, and Discovery throughout the month. CNN brings two notable additions : UFC at the White House with Sara Sidner (July 8th) and Craig Ferguson : American On Purpose on July 27th, plus the docuseries This Land on July 28th.

Food Network fans get a full schedule this July :

  1. Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Season 54 - July 3rd
  2. Kitchen Chaos, Season 1 - July 9th
  3. Pitmasters, Season 1 - July 14th
  4. Restaurant Impossible : Last Call, Season 1 - July 24th
  5. The Great Food Truck Race, Season 19 - July 27th
  6. Kitchen Undercover, Season 1 - July 29th

HGTV adds House Hunters International (July 10th), Worst Yard on the Block (July 16th), Ugliest House in America Season 8 (July 21st), Extreme Buyers Club (July 22nd), and Roast My Rental (July 25th). Discovery delivers Naked and Afraid : Global Showdown on July 20th. The ID network brings two seasons of People Magazine Investigates, focusing on cults, on July 15th and July 22nd.

If you're tracking pricing before committing : Disney's bundle combining HBO Max, Disney+, and Hulu currently sits at $19.99/month for the ad-supported tiers, or $32.99 for the ad-free version. That's worth factoring in if you're not already subscribed and want access to the full July slate across multiple platforms.

What to watch first this July on Max

If we had to prioritize, The Man Will Burn is the documentary worth clearing your schedule for. Burning Man's institutional struggles over the past few years have been under-reported, and this series looks like the most substantive account yet. For fiction, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe should land well with Big Bang Theory fans even if the premise sounds absurd (especially because it sounds absurd). And for films, the arrival of the complete Equalizer trilogy in one shot gives you a proper action marathon without hunting across platforms. We'd start there.
