Synopsis
A beleaguered Los Angeles screenwriter named Charlie Kaufman wrestles with crippling self-doubt, sexual frustration, and deep self-loathing while trying to write a script from Susan Orlean’s book The Orchid Thief. His twin, Donald — charmingly lazy and eager for fame — complicates matters with his own amateurish screenplay dreams. As Charlie’s work stalls, his life shifts from humiliating to surreal, and the boundaries between his personal crisis, the author’s narrative, and the book’s characters begin to blur, each pursuing desire and meaning in ways that unexpectedly collide and transform them all.
