Synopsis

In 1976 Tangshan is devastated by the century’s deadliest earthquake, and seven-year-old twins lie trapped beneath the rubble. Rescuers tell their mother that pulling one child free will almost certainly doom the other, forcing her to make an impossible choice; she ultimately elects to save her son. Presumed dead and abandoned in the wreckage, the little girl nonetheless survives against all odds — a secret unknown to both her brother and her mother.
