Is the movie Charly available on Netflix, Disney+, Prime or Apple TV+?
At Stream Tracker, here’s a short introduction to Charly (1968) and a look at whether you can catch it on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or AppleTV+. Adapted from Daniel Keyes’ Flowers for Algernon, the film follows Charlie/Charly, an emotionally open man whose life is overturned by an experimental surgery that boosts intelligence—a story told through lab tests, the tiny white mouse Algernon, and the fragile gain-and-loss of memory and feeling. Cliff Robertson’s performance won him the Academy Award for Best Actor, and the movie remains a powerful mix of science‑fiction and human drama. In the article that follows, Stream Tracker checks the current streaming lanes—Netflix included—plus rental and platform options so you know exactly where to watch.
Synopsis
Nicolas, a directionless teenager who has yet to find his place, flees his grandparents’ house and hitchhikes into a small town, where he encounters Charly, a slightly older, red-headed prostitute. Charly carries out her work with the same matter-of-fact rhythm she uses to clear breakfast dishes, and something about Nicolas’s rumpled hair and hapless expression strikes her as oddly endearing. She takes him in, offering a bed in the tiny, obsessively kept trailer she calls home, and their makeshift household slowly settles into a peculiar domestic rhythm. As they navigate this fragile cohabitation, both are forced to confront unforeseen vulnerabilities and begin to feel, for the first time, what it might mean to care.
