Synopsis
In 1937, as Nanjing falls, a modest postal worker adopts the guise of a photo developer to blend into the occupying forces’ world. Outwardly collaborating, he covertly converts his darkroom into a haven for displaced families, slipping them food and shelter while hiding their presence. As brutality mounts, he gambles everything to guide refugees to safety and to smuggle photographic evidence of the horrors out to the wider world.
