Synopsis
In the early 18th century, cartographer Jonathan Green sets out from Europe on a scientific expedition toward the East. After threading his way through Transylvania and over the brooding Carpathians, he emerges into a forgotten village swallowed by an impenetrable forest—a place reached only by mischance and a veil of thick fog. The inhabitants, unlike any people he has met, have hewn a deep moat around their homes and cling to the simple conviction that walls and ritual can keep danger out. Yet isolation has only incubated a deeper corruption: what they fear most has already rooted itself in their souls, biding its time before it breaks free to spread beyond their fragile refuge.
