Synopsis

Behrani, an Iranian immigrant, buys a dilapidated bungalow in California hoping to renovate and sell it to raise tuition money for his son. The house, however, is legally owned by Kathy, who was stripped of her home after an unfair legal battle with the county and now has nowhere to go. Desperate to get it back, she hires a lawyer and builds an unexpected bond with a local police officer. Though neither Kathy nor Behrani has acted illegally, their opposing claims draw them into a painful moral quandary.
