Is the movie Ordet available on Netflix, Disney+, Prime or Apple TV+?
At Stream Tracker, I’ll help you locate Carl Theodor Dreyer’s austere masterpiece Ordet (1955) on the major services. Set on a devout Danish farm, the film follows Morten’s three sons—Anders the faithful, Mikkel the doubter and Johannes, who insists he is Jesus—whose clashing convictions are put to the ultimate test when Mikkel’s wife Inger faces a perilous childbirth. Winner of the Golden Lion at the 1955 Venice Film Festival, Ordet is a spare, intense meditation on faith, prayer, doubt and the possibility of a miracle or resurrection. In this article I’ll check whether Ordet is currently streaming on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or AppleTV+ and how to find it in your region.
Synopsis
Morten, a devout Danish farmer, watches his three sons follow wildly different spiritual paths: the youngest, Anders, clings to their father's faith; the eldest, Mikkel, has abandoned belief altogether; and the middle son, Johannes, has slipped into delusion and proclaims himself to be Jesus. When Mikkel's wife Inger endures a dangerous childbirth, the family's beliefs are pushed to their limits.
