After twelve years devoted to his favorite MMORPG, Momonga logs on for what he expects to be his final session — and finds himself trapped inside the game world, unable to return. His player character rises to become the Sorcerer King Ains Ooal Gown. The once-prosperous Sacred Kingdom, long safeguarded by a massive protective wall, now teeters on ruin. That fragile peace is shattered when the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth appears, leading an army of vicious demi-humans. Fearing invasion, the neighboring Slane Theocracy turns to the Sorcerer Kingdom for aid.
