Is the movie Smoke Signals available on Netflix, Disney+, Prime or Apple TV+?
At Stream Tracker, we love tracking down films that stay with you long after the credits — and Smoke Signals is one of those. Chris Eyre’s 1998 coming-of-age road movie, written by Sherman Alexie, follows awkward, story-obsessed Thomas and his friend Victor as they leave their reservation to collect the ashes of Victor’s father, Arnold. It’s a film built on fire, ashes, storytelling and the messy, tender business of forgiveness. Smoke Signals won the Audience Award at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival and remains a landmark as one of the first widely seen feature films by Native American filmmakers and actors. In this article we’ll check where you can stream it now — whether it’s on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or AppleTV+ — and how to find the best option to watch this quietly powerful road movie.
Synopsis
Thomas, a young Native American on the reservation, is a bookish outsider with oversized glasses who tells long, unwelcome stories. Orphaned when his parents died in a 1976 fire, he was rescued as a child by Arnold, who later walked away from his own family; Arnold’s estranged son Victor hasn’t seen him in ten years. When Victor learns Arnold has died, Thomas offers to fund the trip to bring his remains home.
