Synopsis
Frank Corvin, “Hawk” Hawkins, Jerry O'Neill and “Tank” Sullivan were once the cocky ace pilots of Project Daedalus, the Air Force's experimental program aimed at putting humans into space. Their dreams are cut short in 1958 when NASA takes over the effort and the service opts to send trained chimpanzees instead of men. Years later, when a mysterious Soviet communications satellite called Ikon begins to lose altitude and threatens to rain debris down on populated areas, the four men use leverage and blackmail to force their way onto a mission into orbit to intercept the failing satellite.
