Synopsis
Aren is drawn into a clandestine society of Black sorcerers whose long-held mission is to use their gifts to smooth the lives of white elites. As he learns their rituals and the cost of that hidden service, he begins to see the moral compromises the pact requires and the way it upholds a fraught status quo. Torn between loyalty to his new community and a growing need for self‑determination, Aren must choose whether to preserve the uneasy peace or challenge the system that silences him.
