Is the movie The Big Blue available on Netflix, Disney+, Prime or Apple TV+?
Dive back into the cobalt dream of Luc Besson’s The Big Blue — a story of breath-holding, dolphins, and the irresistible pull of the abyss. In this article you'll find whether Jacques and Enzo’s rivalry and the film’s oceanic poetry are streaming on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or AppleTV+. A cult landmark of 1980s French cinema, The Big Blue also picked up awards and festival recognition on its release, helping seal its reputation as a visually and sonically immersive experience.
Synopsis
Jacques and Enzo, childhood friends, share a dangerous obsession with free diving. Jacques, now a professional, followed the path of his father, who vanished at sea when Jacques was a boy. To the astonishment of researchers, Jacques can slow his heart and modulate his breathing underwater to such an extent that his physiology resembles a dolphin’s rather than a human’s. When Enzo persuades a hesitant Jacques to enter a no-scuba contest that pits them against one another for depth and time beneath the surface, Jacques meets Johana, a striking American insurance investigator, and finds himself torn between a new love ashore and the ocean that has always called him.
