Synopsis
Felix Webb, a celebrated playwright, is deep into rehearsals for his latest work, The Hit Man, under the direction of his longtime friend Humphrey. Despite the play's glowing reception, Felix is tormented: he has fallen headlong for Hilary, a spirited young actress, and contemplates abandoning his seemingly ideal family—his wife Elena and their three lively children. Tension mounts when Humphrey casts Hilary in a prominent role, bringing her ever closer to Felix’s life. Into this charged atmosphere arrives Robin Grange, a magnetic Hollywood star making his London stage debut. Charming and unpredictably dangerous, Robin quickly insinuates himself among the company, picks up on Felix’s crisis, and sets a provocative plan in motion: he proposes to seduce Elena, believing that by diverting and empowering her she might reclaim her dignity and, perhaps, choose to free herself from the husband who has betrayed her.
