Synopsis
Lanyard, a globe-trotting thief known as the Lone Wolf for his uncanny ability to evade police, is rifling a wall safe when he senses detectives approaching. He slips a necklace into a cigarette case and makes a swift retreat. Disguised, he climbs to the balcony of a nearby house hosting a masked ball and hides in Marcia Mayfair’s boudoir. Later he mixes with the guests and dances with her. When detectives compel everyone to unmask, Lanyard’s presence is exposed, but Marcia stays silent while he quietly restores the jewels he had taken from her room. Detective Crane, suspicious but without evidence, gives Lanyard a warning. A visit to a bohemian resort run by Morphew, leader of a thieves’ gang, sparks a volatile confrontation and threats against him; Marcia and Lanyard narrowly escape a raid. Their romance is threatened when Marcia’s jewels vanish again, but Lanyard ultimately ensnares Morphew and his crew and brings them to justice.
