Synopsis

Set against the turbulence of the Republican era, when conflict is constant, a travelling opera company fights to survive. Onstage, a magnetic figure called the "Overlord" pours out a thunderous, impassioned aria; offstage, the ridiculous theater of everyday life—greed, fear, comedy—plays out in the wings.
