Synopsis
Martin Bonner has left the East Coast for Nevada, abandoning the marriage of routine he’d built over more than twenty years and the two grown children who remained behind. Struggling financially after a recent bankruptcy and two years without work, he accepts a position coordinating volunteers at a nonprofit that helps former inmates reintegrate into society. At the same time, Travis Holloway is being released after a twelve-year sentence and returns to Reno with virtually nothing. Though he has a program sponsor, Steve Helms, the city and civilian life feel foreign and difficult to navigate. Over time, Martin and Travis’s lives intersect, and through their tentative friendship they come to rely on each other’s quiet steadiness, shared uncertainties, and the small acts of support that make second chances possible.
