Is the TV show Hi Score Girl available on Netflix, Disney+, Prime or Apple TV+?
At Stream Tracker, here’s a quick intro to Hi Score Girl (2018) and where to find it on major streamers. Set in 1991, the show follows sixth-grader Haruo, who lives for arcades, joysticks, quarters and chasing high scores — until Akira, the unbeatable classmate, wipes him out at Street Fighter II and follows him from cabinet to cabinet. Equal parts retro gaming love letter and awkward coming‑of‑age romance, the series captures that pixel‑perfect nostalgia and the weird chemistry of an odd couple bonded by competition. Netflix carries the series in many regions — scroll down to see if it’s available for you on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or Apple TV+. Though it didn’t sweep major awards, Hi Score Girl was widely praised for its faithful 90s arcade atmosphere and character work.
Synopsis
1991. Haruo Yaguchi is a sixth grader who lives for arcade machines — unpopular, awkward and far from charismatic, the only place he feels competent is behind a joystick. One afternoon he runs into Akira Oono, a wealthy, well-liked classmate whose looks and smarts make her the opposite of him; at the Street Fighter II cabinet she hands him his defeat—and not just once, but thirty straight times—and proceeds to beat him at every game they try. Akira begins trailing him from one arcade to the next after school, turning their daily competitions into a strange ritual. What starts as relentless one-upmanship slowly melts into an unusual companionship, as two very different kids find a connection through the rivalry that keeps pulling them back to the machines.
