Synopsis
Secrets & Seekers was created and directed by Iginio Straffi as an Italian–American co-production between Rainbow S.p.A. and Big Bocca Productions (owned by Upper Deck CEO Richard McWilliam). Its visual design, animation and overall aesthetic were developed in Italy, while the scripts and original voice recordings were produced in the United States. Positioned as a companion project to Straffi’s Winx Club, the show blends European art direction with American storytelling. The series premiered on January 3, 2009, with a single episode airing in the United States and the first four episodes debuting in Europe; subsequent premieres were handled by Jetix. In the U.S. it later aired on The CW4Kids (Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. Eastern). European broadcasts included Disney XD and CITV, and the first season reached India via Disney XD in 2010. Although a magazine announcement indicated a U.S. return for a second season in fall 2012, the new season actually began airing in spring 2012 in the U.K. on CITV and in Australia on Channel Eleven. The first season was released on DVD by Anime Works in 2010.
